If you love visiting colonial cities that makes you feel as if you are in another time, you should consider visiting Antigua, Guatemala. The place is one of the best preserved Spanish colonial cities in the Americas that date as far back as 300 years ago. You will not only see several hundred-year-old structures and ruins but also natural wonders that will take your breath away.

Antigua has everything for everyone. If you are the type of person who wants to soak in the culture of the place, you should check out the various art galleries and exhibits and watch performance and shows. If you are a history and religion buff, you should not miss the various Antigua church ruins like Los Remedios, La Recoleccion, Iglesia San Jose de Viejo, Iglesia El Carmen, and San Jeronimo, to name a few. You will know a lot about the place once you check to these ruins. These churches were built in the 1600s and 1700s, which makes them very old and historical.

For people who love the outdoors, the perfect place to go is the Pacaya Volcano. Nothing beats the experience of hiking up an active volcano. You do not really need to walk because you can ride a horse for you to enjoy the view without worrying about aching feet. Once you reach your destination which is the active lava flow of the volcano, you will realize that the difficult climb is all worth it.

You can also go shopping for souvenirs in the local street markets of Antigua where you can find jewelries, handicrafts, textiles, and so on.
