What is attracting more and more tourists to Antarctica? The temperature is so cold that it is difficult to find a reason behind their expeditions. They want to visit the Jagged Mountain. Make sure to include this in your schedule when you visit Antarctica.

The Jagged Mountain is such a breath-taking view especially for tourists who love to take beautiful pictures as well as those who would want to climb the rough terrains. What will you see during your stay at the Jagged Mountain? Well for starters, there is the Nunataks. They are not abominable monsters they can sometimes appear to be. They are called Jagged Mountain since they have peaks that jut upwards as high as any tall building.

The next natural phenomenon would be the Razor which happens to be a vertical rock wall that stands a whopping 2,000 feet. Did you know that it remained unscaled for years until someone broke the record in 1996? There is so much for you to see in the Jagged Mountain and you definitely need your hiking boots and extra food. Keep in mind that any travel across continents does come with a hefty price. Antarctica is not an inexpensive trip, so better save up!

Since the Razor was already scaled or someone climbed it already, there are still virgin summits waiting for you at the Jagged Mountain. As every tourist should always keep in mind, never forget your gear. Not all places are complete with stores for you to go for if you need additional supplies. So pack up and prepare yourself for the worst case scenarios that can possibly take place like sudden snowstorms, avalanches or even shortage of food. Even though, this is a remarkable tourist destination, it pays to always be prepared.

If you are looking for that happiest place on earth, visit Paradise Harbor, Antarctica. This is a haven for shutterbugs, so bring along your lenses, tripod, and charge their batteries so you capture all the bounty of nature. This place happens to be Antarctica’s pride and joy due to the serenity of the location.
Several tourists who already visited Paradise Harbor, Antarctica, can very well attest to the magnificent shots they have taken when they saw the calving icebergs. True enough, these glaciers have beautiful reflections when the light bounces on water. You will be amazed when the icebergs break off in chunks as you pass by in your zodiac or otherwise known as a rubber boat.

You really have to ride in these smaller boats for you to tour the entire scenery being offered by Paradise Harbor, Antarctica. Since it is easier for small boats to maneuver in tight narrow passages, a regular cruise ship cannot pass through and besides, since tourists are known to come in groups, it will be a wonderful ride. If you are on the solitary expedition, kayaks are available too but it would be better to go with the group since emergency situations can really leave you helpless.

Another added attraction that would surely make this place special is the candid movements of penguins, whales and sea lions. They are not bothered by human presence anymore since they have already became accustomed to these zodiacs bearing as many as twelve people who are taking shot after shot with their cameras. Always bear in mind that Paradise Harbor, Antarctica is nature’s gift to mankind, so make sure you do your part in keeping it clean and not polluted. Your family will remember the happiest place on Earth as witnessed through your lens.

Make your Antarctica expedition more memorable by including the Lemaire & Neumayer Channels in your travel itinerary. These channels happen to be one of the favorite tourist destinations since it is one of the most magnificent places to see in Antarctica. It is such narrow passage, so before you pack your bags to make this first stop, check with the locals if the passage is open. There are times when glaciers as big as the cruise ship you rode goes through the narrow passage blocking the entire portion of the channel.

Since the glacier is just passing through, it shall be cleared in no time. You would really feel as if you are the king or queen of the world since the moment you pass through the Lemaire & Neumayer Channels, penguins and seals will greet you. They are also one of the reasons why tourists seem to be so enamored with the place. In addition to these playful animals, occasionally whales drop by and even follow your zodiacs around.

Zodiacs are not only at night in the form of constellations. These are what you call small inflatable boats. They are safe to ride and have brought thousands of adventurous tourists through the Lemaire & Neumayer Channels! So always keep your cameras ready for the entire duration of the trip so you don’t miss a photo opportunity. Did you know the channel even has a nickname for camera buffs? They call it the Kodak Gap since you can really take amazing shots when you pass through the narrow passage.

What actually attracts tourists to Antarctica is the extended time that daylight is present. Even if you are not a professional photographer, you will appreciate the magical natural lights that are so beautiful when you take your shots.

Just when you thought that an ice breaker was only used during first time get-togethers during high school, think again. These ice breakers are mid-sized ships that help break ice formations that have grown quite large in the Antarctica. Now what is this iceberg calving and why do tourists flock to witness such natural phenomenon?

It may sound scary and alarming since the first thing that would come to your mind is the word avalanche. It’s a little different. The reason why this cold and freezing place is such a favorite of tourists nowadays is the opportunity to capture on film the moment an iceberg breaks off the main chunk of ice. Together with biologists, tourists can witness this fascinating phenomenon. The Iceberg Calving is one of the true sources of freshwater that can supply the entire United States of America in close to a year.

The moment you experience your first iceberg calving process, you will be alarmed since it is so large it could easily sink and re-sink the Titanic. This why ice breakers are so in demand since they break the ice into smaller chunks which will float on the sea and melt on its own. It will not cause any tsunami as portrayed in movies, but will provide extra water to the ecosystem.

Experience this wonderful tourist attraction and possibly even ride on the ice breaker itself or commission available boats to bring you closer to the site of the iceberg calving. Do not forget to bring in your warm winter clothes since temperatures really drop below your comfort level.

The McMurdo Dry Valleys can be found in Antarctica and they are one of the top tourist destinations that are famous for that region. What is very interesting here is the formation of land that seems to be quite questionable since Antarctica is known for snow, snow and of course snow.

Pack your durable yet comfortable hiking boots since the Dry Valleys are best admired on foot. There are numerous tourist hot spots there where residents can give you an amazing tour around. What is remarkable with this place is the level of salt that is found in their lakes. Like the Dead Sea, the Dry Valleys of Antarctica are known for the salinity of their waters. Did you know that the waters can actually be of great help to your skin ailments? The only problem is that you are in a rather extremely cold place. Don’t let it stop you since even in our countries where the weather dips below zero, submerging in the icy water actually provides many positive benefits to your body.

Even though there are places in the Dry Valleys that are under strict protection, you can still have fun with the spectacular flora and beautiful fauna. Always remember that whenever you visit places like the Dry Valleys, always look after your trash. There are lots of tourists who tend to waste away such a serene and clean environment. Since Antarctica is the home and refuge of many penguins, they can choke on the plastic bags and soda caps left behind. The fantastic view of the snow and ice gives you many photographic opportunities while you stay there. Be proud that you have visited such a beautiful place and bring home the memories you had there.

Mystery and adventure awaits you in Deception Island. Located in Antarctica, this island is one of the places most tourists love to visit. There are many things to do during your stay here and the first stop would be to say hello to the chinstrap penguins. They are such cute animals most especially when you see them burying themselves into the sand. They love both the water as well as land.

Tourists swear by the landscape view of the steaming beaches. But do you know the main reason why they are steaming? It is because it is within close proximity to an active volcano. Usually the water is indeed scalding but there are portions where the water has a mix of hot and cold just like what you have in the shower. What is great here is the presence of sulfur being emitted from the volcano. It has medicinal properties that cure skin ailments like Psoriasis.

Deception Island is indeed the destination to be since here you could very much commune with nature. The mystery is behind the geothermal activities that are happening within the city and the animals that freely roam there. There are whales too to further heighten your nature expedition!

Just make sure to know some mandatory guidelines when you visit Deception Island. They are many rules for tourists who tend to go on their own adventures and leave the group. Since there is an active volcano present, better check if there are any recent eruptions or even what kind of clothes or protection you need to wear should you take a dip in the water for you can suffer 3rd degree burns. Make sure not to bring home any plants no matter how pretty they are – it’s prohibited by the law.

As you think of the places to go to for your extreme weather expedition, find time to visit the Emperor Penguins in Antarctica. Many tourists often visit this magnificent animal since they freely roam in this continent. It is much more fascinating to see them in their natural habitat instead of seeing them locked up in aquariums and zoos in your local area.

As you may already know from watching documentaries about these penguins, the lady penguin lays only a single egg in a year and then she leaves it to the male penguin to incubate it until the egg hatches. Make it a point to contact the local office in Antarctica to learn when eggs are estimated to hatch so you can witness for yourself how magical it is to see thousands of penguins in one place.

Your trip to see the Emperor Penguin in Antarctica is such an unforgettable experience that you may even find it difficult to put in words why you have to always carry your camera wherever you go. See just how fluid they swim in the water and how funny they walk on ice since your photographs can capture thses remarkable moments.

This is the reason why tourists who have already visited this place will recommend Antarctica over and over. One piece of information that often gets passed from one tourist to another is the mating pattern of the Emperor Penguin in Antarctica. The males will commit to just one female penguin for the rest of his life. Filled with curiosity, tourist will surely share wonderful pictures of this place! Since they are accustomed to people and let them get close, beware for they have been known to snap with their sharp beaks.

For your next travel destination, make it a point to visit the Polar Ice Cap that is found in a very cold place called Antarctica. It seems to look as if Christmas comes everyday due to the thick layers of snow that you will soon come across. Being in this place is as cold as being in an enormous freezer, but more and more tourists are attracted to explore this often overlooked part of the world.

You will meet many tourists on your visit to the Polar Ice Cap who will share this special place with you. It is a spectacular adventure to be so close with nature and be present in a place that can actually cover the entire globe with its ice. Do make this one of your top choices for your trip since it would be a once in a lifetime experience to actually experience a Polar Ice Cap. Sure you can see it in movies and television, but nothing beats the actual experience of seeing it person.

Ask any tourist who has already gone to the Polar Ice Cap and they will tell you how amazed they were to see the tranquility of the place. It’s amazing to witness the various animals that freely roam there. One is the Emperor Penguin who happens to be so tall in real life. Did you know that they reach as high as a six year old boy? That is pretty tall for a bird right? Just be ready to bear the odor since these Penguins can be a little smelly since they eat is fish. Even though there are areas where plants grow, it is not part of their diet.

Now that you’ve made up your mind that your next adventure will be in Antarctica, better include the Ross Ice Shelf in your checklist. This happens to be a very interesting place to visit. Not only is it more preferred by most tourists, you get to witness first hand the scenic beauty of an ice shelf. By definition, an ice shelf is a very thick mass of ice that floats around the sea. Even though it may be roaming around, it’s still anchored to a more massive glacier that can be as big as France moving around.

By visiting this famous tourist spot in Antarctica, you will see ice formations melting due to the current state of Global Warming. Just like in the movies, a great flood would actually wash away countries as big as China or cities closer to home like New York in the United States. Once you get to be with other tourists who would tell you that they have gone back to the Ross Ice Shelf for numerous times already. The reason here is that they were so enamored by the splendid view of glaciers floating and bumping against each other. Well, these are the extreme seekers who would be just like you.

Coming to the Ross Ice Shelf and being there to witness the mystery of life will really make one’s journey much more fascinating. These icebergs do not melt even it they break off from a bigger portion. So if you love extreme adventure, a visit to the Ross Ice Shelf is what you need.

Have you ever wondered why Santa Clause is so mysterious? Ít’s because he lives in a very isolated and almost forgotten place called the South Pole. Let this realization not hamper you from visiting since even though only a handful of tourists include this in their travel schedule, it is the one place that really needs to be visited and appreciated. It’s so awesome to actually be in the South Pole that it’s like being on another planet.

One special experience you can get from your South Pole adventure is that you can actually say that you have traveled the world not in eighty days but in a couple of seconds. All because there is this particular marker that is laid down in the South Pole where you can walk around and follow the trail. It does go through different time zones much like the international dateline. Since you are all fired up and ready to experience such a freezing adventure, do find time to get all your gear packed and all your heavy and thick clothes available. Keep in mind that the temperature can actually dip as low as -89°C or 129°F.

They say that once you have conquered the South Pole, you have indeed conquered the world since this place is known to have powerful winds that exceed the power of hurricanes. Scientist who keep track of the weather changes in the South Pole classify it just like Gale. The trip is not very expensive and the memories can last a lifetime. Remember to be safe and steer clear from accidents as soon as you enjoy your visit to the Ice Capital. It may indeed be the greatest adventure of your life!
