Sydney is a place that has got to be in your list of places to visit in your lifetime. It is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. Understandably so because it holds a great number of interesting sights for both young and old alike. Its weather is moderate enough to let everyone have their fill of eventful sunlit days and cool sultry nights. Sydney is home to many indoor and outdoor attractions that will keep you entertained and relaxed at the same time. Your vacation in Sydney will surely be something you would not forget for the rest of your life.

Whether you are looking at a day or a whole week’s vacation time, Sydney surely has something to offer you. The most popular attractions in Sydney are the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The Sydney Opera House hosts the Opera Australia which is considered to be one of the top 3 busiest opera companies the world over. The opera house has five uniquely designed halls with excellent acoustics. Since its completion in the 1960s, the Sydney Opera House has gained its popularity as one of Australia’s must-see sites.

Sydney’s eclectic mix of locals and foreign immigrants make for a very interesting cultural scene. A great majority of the city’s population is composed of foreign immigrants mostly from the United Kingdom and Asia. This greatly underscores the city’s reputation as one of the most livable cities in the world. The festivals and cultural events in Sydney are among the grandest and most colorful you can find in any country. If you go in January, you can catch the Sydney Festival, the largest arts festival in the country, which features a number of both indoor and outdoor performances of various local artists. Those who prefer a more colorful and festive air could head on down to Oxford Street for the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Flicksters, on the other hand, could visit the theaters for the Sydney Film Festival and a number of other short film festivals in the city.

The glitz and glamour does not escape this cosmopolitan city. Sydney ranks high up among the world’s most fashionable cities. Fashion enthusiasts from all over the world should not miss the biannual Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. Aside from premier designers in Australia, most international designers have taken to locating major outlets in Sydney. The Rosemount Australian Fashion Week is held sometime in April or May and then again in September. If you go in September, it would be a wonderful time to hit Sydney’s beaches. Apart from the long stretches of fine sandy beaches, there are several national parks and inlets that could provide a refreshing respite from the city attractions.
