Caye Caulker

Caye Caulker is a small island located off the coast of the country of Belize and is one of the favorite destinations of budget travelers and backpackers due to the low prices and laid back atmosphere that the place offers. There are a number of bars and restaurants that one can hang out in on this island and plenty of friendly people, local and expats alike, that you can mingle with.

To get to the island of Caye Caulker, you can take a flight from Belize City via Tropic Air or Maya Island Air. This flight usually takes around ten to fifteen minutes, making it one of the most viable options for you to take to get to the island. If you want to try some other way of getting to Caye Caulker, you can opt for a water taxi which also departs from Belize City. There is a trip to the island every two hours or so and you will get to your destination in approximately 45 minutes.

Some of the places of interest that you may not want to miss when you get to Caye Caulker, Belize include the Caye Caulker Marine Reserve which is popularly known as the island’s local reef and the Blue Hole, which is considered a very famous dive site in the region and is only an hour’s boat ride away from the island. If you don’t want to go diving to see the marine wildlife but still want to see them nearby, you can do so by going to Shark and Ray Alley. There are many tour operators that will be happy to take you there to feed sharks and stingrays with food that is tossed into the sea.
