Also called Cayo by the locals, San Ignacio Belize is another wonderful destination you can choose to go to in Belize. This place is an ideal town for you to visit if you are fond of taking walks and observing the surroundings while doing so. Since most everything of interest in this town is only a short walk away from the downtown area where most tourists stay, you can very well explore the town on foot.

You can get to San Ignacio, Belize or Cayo by way of car. You can rent one at the International Airport and get someone to give you directions for getting to the town. If you find that you don’t want to bother with driving to the town, you can take a bus that will take you to San Ignacio in approximately 2 hours or so. You can also choose to take the shuttle to Cayo which often departs from the airport.

There are a number of places of interest that you can visit when you are in San Ignacio and these include several ruins and ancient burial grounds, nature farms and even open air markets and shopping areas. You will find that certain Mayan ruins, like the Actun Tunichil Muknal and the Cahal Peck to be places where you can get a small glimpse of what life was like in the past in these regions. You can also visit the Green Iguana Conservation Project or the Green Hills Butterfly Ranch if you are into nature and wildlife preserves.
