San Juan, Puerto Rico is the largest city and capital of Puerto Rico. It was named after the famous Bible character San Juan Bautista or Saint John the Baptist in English. In the year 2000, it ranked as the 42nd largest city under the United States’ Jurisdiction. In 1521, Spanish colonists founded the city and named it Ciudad de Puerto Rico. Today, San Juan, Puerto Rico is considered as one of the most significant seaports and source of financial, manufacturing, tourism and cultural center in Puerto Rico.

San Juan, Puerto Rico has a tropical wet climate. They enjoy an average temperature of 28 degree Celsius throughout most of the year.

San Juan has numerous numbers of museums, hotels, restaurants, historical buildings, shopping centers and beaches. They are also popular for their famous attractions such as Isla Verde, Ocean Park, Condado and Old San Juan. The Old San Juan promotes the historical nature of their place by preserving narrow streets made of adoquine, defensive forts and walls and colonial buildings. The University of Puerto Rico was the oldest university and promoted as one of their most historic places.

San Juan is also the birthplace of some of the well-known musicians and artists. The musical side of San Juan has been heavily influenced by Afro-Caribbean style of music. Artists like Justino Diaz, Ricky Martin and Raymond Ayala were all from San Juan.
