Travelers and thrill seekers would most probably make Zermatt as one of their destinations if they want to have a wonderful mountaineering and skiing experience. Being the starting point for hiking in the Swiss mountains, Zermatt can lead you all the way to its most famous peak, the Matterhorn, which was the last alpine mountain to be conquered by British troops in the 1800’s.

It is also the peak where the famous Toblerone chocolate was modeled after.

Hikers and skiers won’t find it difficult to get a view of the mountain, because cable cars and chair lifts were made available for them. These cables and chair lifts carry them all the way to Matterhorn and allow them also to cross into Italy through the Cervinia cable car station. Throughout the year, a lot of professional climbers, backpackers and tour groups come to Zermatt to experience this one-of-a-kind ride.

The skiing zone in Zermatt has four areas namely Sunnegga, Gornergrat, Klein Matterhorn, and Schwarzsee. Sunnegga can be accessed directly through the railway, a gondola, and a cable car. Gornergrat would contain shopping centers at its summit, along with hotels and restaurants. Matterhorn is also accessible via cable cars, and skiing in this part of the mountain is very difficult. Despite this, it is being marketed as a beautiful skiing resort all year round. It is only being closed during its off seasons from May to July.

One thing that’s also good about the town is that the government takes care not to allow pollution to obscure the view of the Matterhorn. To do this, they designed their cars to be battery driven to be free from combustion. These electrical vehicles are primarily used by most residents, with the exception of emergency fire trucks, ambulances, garbage trucks and municipal buses which use combustion engines.

The prices of shopping goods and foods in Zermatt are reasonable, and they vary from one shop to another. The weather and climate in the village are typically mild to moderate in summer and snowy cold during the winter season which starts from the month of December to February.
