Dal is a spicy lentil soup, served over bhat (boiled rice), and served with tarkari (curried vegetables) in combination with achar (pickles) or chutni (a spicy condiment). With the many ethnic groups that reside in Nepal, there are a variety of dishes that define Nepalese cuisine.

There are many things to buy in Nepal. Silver is popular and good deals on the metal can be found in various regions of the country. Exotic clothing that can be found nowhere else in the world is also available. There are also carpets and rugs, cultural artifacts, and electronics.
