Mandabe

Most tourist spots in the world today might be a great spot for tourists just because they have the best resorts or the best hotel services that one could afford upon touring the place. However, these things should not only be the only reasons for tourists visiting the said areas, since the most important thing is to get in touch with a culture that they are unfamiliar with. One of those places would have to be Mandabe in the wonderful country of Madagascar.

Mandabe is definitely one of those places in Madagascar that should be visited more often because of its rich culture and tradition that is evident not only seen from the hospitable and nice people that populate the area, but also in their ways of living. The majority of people in Mandabe farm for a living, so tourists should expect that the city has a real connection to its past roots and hasn’t been industrialized.

There are a few hotels or mini-motels in the area that will provide comfort to tourists who are exploring the area and taking shots of the beautiful places in Mandabe, including the fields that are green and free from any pollution. This area is definitely the closest that tourists can get to a place that is still very primitive.

Andevoranto

The Famous Tomato Frog in Andevoranto, Madagascar
Photo by: sallypics , Creative Commons

Madagascar is definitely one of those places that every tourist should visit as least once in their lifetime. Even though the country has been growing and developing in terms of infrastructure and economy, they still don’t forget to take care of their natural resources.

The citizens in the area keep their culture alive regardless of the new developments. For one, they have resisted the complete transformation of their area as proven by the wildlife the town still has. One of the animals that must be seen by tourists would have to be the Tomato Frog.

The tomato frog, as its name suggests, is a kind of frog that deviates from its usual color. When these frogs feel danger, it bloats its body and secretes a gummy-like substance that is aimed at the predator’s mouth and eyes. Although these frogs may cause allergic reactions to humans, they are not life-threatening and are quite nice to see in their habitat.

Besides animals, Andevoranto is also home to the most hospitable citizens in the land. They offer excellent accommodations to tourists. Their houses’ structures, moreover, are unique yet same in a way that they keep this unified theme of their culture but each of these houses still differentiates itself from the others.

Andevorante is definitely a sight to behold. It is quite amazing to know that there are still places on Earth that are untouched by modernization.

Verona

Photo by: nikonvscanon , Creative Commons

Verona, Italy lies in the northeastern part of the country’s Veneto region and was made famous by the Shakespearean masterpiece, Romeo and Juliet, which has this beautiful city as its setting. It is situated near Venice but draws fewer tourists, making it a more quiet and peaceful place to spend your vacation at.

The closest airport to Verona would be the Catullo Airport, which is only 12 kilometers from the city. However, there are buses that may take you directly to Verona from the other nearby airports for your convenience. If you are coming from Milan, Venice, Treviso, Bologna or Munich, you may take the train, which has regular trips to the city. To get around Verona, you may ride in the taxis or rent a car for the duration for your stay.

A former Roman city, Verona, Italy is home to ruins of Roman architecture, some of which have been well preserved for the younger generation to view and admire.

The Arena, a magnificent Roman amphitheater, is an ancient Roman structure that is not only well preserved, but is also still functioning to this day. Built in the 1st century AD, this elliptical-shaped structure is the third largest amphitheater in the world to survive from antiquity. Its outer part has been damaged by earthquakes but the inside where operas are held is still in great shape.

For more Italian art in Verona, visit the City Art Museum located inside the Castelvecchio, a 14th century castle located on the Aldige river banks. This museum houses an extensive collection of beautiful Renaissance paintings and well-crafted medieval sculptures. A nice tour of the castle will also be enjoyed by visitors, especially those who come with their children.

A tour of Verona, Italy will not be complete without a visit to Juliet’s House or Casa di Giulietta. Although this house has absolutely nothing to do with Shakespeare’s play, it has become famous among tourists, especially to teenagers who enjoy taking their photos at the balcony, which was only added in 1936 and where the popular scene from Romeo and Juliet supposedly took place. Aside from the famed balcony, Juliet’s House is also home to a small collection of Renaissance frescoes.

Another must-see in Verona, Italy is the Lamberti Tower. Known as the tallest tower in Verona, this clock tower was completed in 1463 and gives you a breathtaking view of the city. You may choose to take all 238 steps to the top or the much easier way of taking the lift.

Verona is definitely a destination worth visiting when you are in Italy. So don’t forget to secure a tour of this city when you plan your vacation.

A tunnel provides easy access to the region for travelers who would like to take a break from the larger nearby city of Salzburg. Its lakeside location offers a great selection of outdoor activities in the region for tourists who enjoy visiting regardless of the season.

Winter brings abundant snow to cover the nearby peaks and valleys. This season makes the town an ideal spot to indulge in sports such as skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing and snow kiting. Springtime makes the surrounding mountainsides bloom with plants that are uniquely Alpine. Visitors can indulge in the therapeutic services and ambiance of health spas that are present around the town. Summer leads to plenty of opportunities for outdoor sports that include horseback riding, and mountain climbing. They can also enjoy swimming in the surrounding bodies of water such as the Salaach River, Zeller Lake and Salzach River. Autumn is perfect for outdoor concerts, festivals, and last minute explorations of nearby natural reserves before the cycle of fun repeats itself all over again at the start of next winter.

The center of Zell am See, Austria is also distinctive for its quintessentially Medieval atmosphere. This is not too surprising since monks from Salzburg founded the town in 740 AD. This rustic and tranquil atmosphere makes the center popular to visitors who constantly fill the town’s lodging houses to almost full capacity. Another testament to the area’s historical heritage is the Saint Hippolyte Cathedral. Three architectural movements blend together to adorn the exteriors and interiors of this particular church. The main structure was constructed according to the Romanesque style. The main altar and some statues were influenced by the Baroque movement of the 1600s. Currently, Gothic styles predominate the church, particularly the aisles, baldachins, and parapets.

A rich history amidst the uniquely Alpine landscape combined with modern facilities and activities – Zell am See, Austria is certainly more than a resort town that tourists from all parts of the world can enjoy.

Treasure Cay is the most sparkling and irresistible gem of the Bahamian island Abaco. The beach has pristine waters where people love to swim and engage in sports. It has breathtaking views which capture every visitor’s heart. Imagine the 3.5-mile powdery white sand matched with turquoise water lapping the shore, who wouldn’t want to have a taste of it?

It would be interesting to note the history of this island. The establishment of Treasure Cay, Bahamas happened in 1783 when over a thousand Americans from New York fled the revolution and settled there. They pioneered the development of the wooden boatbuilding economy, which is a known tradition of the island to this day. Currently, there are about 2,000 people living in a little over a thousand private homes in the area. They are a multi-cultural mix of Bahamians, Americans, Canadians, and Europeans. Although modern developments have been performed in the island, it still remains to be scenic because great care and consideration is always on top of the people’s priorities here.

If you wish to stay in a resort, the most famous would be the Treasure Cay Hotel Resort and Marina. It is a resort open to the locals, sharing their facilities like the groceries, bakeries, and post office.

There are many things you can do in Treasure Cay like renting a motorboat, finding a private beach, fishing, or touring the neighboring islands and cays. You can also play golf here. Nightlife is also great in the area. Tipsy Seagull Bar, Coco Beach Bar, and the Spinnaker Lounge are some of the most popular night spots you should try.

On the other hand, if you and your partner love golf, there is a Greg Norman Designed Course where you can play ‘til your heart’s content. You would probably appreciate golfing here better than any place else because of the accompanying great views.

In 1961, Thimphu became a municipality and developed to become the capital of Bhutan. Back in 1960, Thimphu was just a small community but was expanded by King Jigme Dorje Wangchuk in order to substitute the old capital of Punakha.

The Tashichoedzong, which is famous with tourists, has a multi-coloured masked dance festival at the end of the summer season.

Thimphu is among the two national capitals in Asia which does not utilize traffic lights, the other being Pyongyang in North Korea. Local upper-hands had set up lights, however, they were removed even before starting operation. In place for traffic lights, Thimphu City takes pride in their traffic policemen who directs the looming traffic with their dance like actions using their hands and arms.

The Memorial Chorten overlooks the Thimphu City’s skyline. This Chorten is bestowed to the 3rd Druk Gyalpo or King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk following his unexpected death while travelling outside the country.

The National Library was built in 1967 in the style of a conventional temple containing a large set of religious manuscripts and book in Classical Tibetan and Dzongkha, and a set of English language books. It holds a copy of the world’s biggest published book, as well.

The Buddha Dordenma sculpture is the biggest Buddha sculpture in the world. It is located on top of a mountain called Kuensel Phodrang, dominating the city of Thimphu.
